The goal of breast augmentation surgery is to provide women with the breasts they desire. The surgery involves the insertion of implants and requires some time set aside for post-operative recovery. This period of time is called the breast surgery healing phase.

During the breast surgery healing phase, massaging of the implants can help keep that soft, natural look for the breasts. Patients are instructed to massage the implants every couple of hours for the first 72 hours then several times a day for several weeks. Eventually, the massaging routine will diminish to once a day daily.

Massaging will help prevent the hardening of the implants, which is the most common complication of breast augmentation surgery.
