Doctor’s Comments
This was a complex revision breast augmentation case. This patient had silicone breast implants placed about 35 years ago. She developed capsular contracture and ruptured implants. She underwent revision breast augmentation with capsulectomy 10 years later by another San Diego plastic surgeon using saline implants. At that time, some of the silicone was not completely removed from the left upper outer breast. Over time the remaining silicone developed hard, visible granulomas. She also developed capsular contracture again. After consulting with Dr. Gregory Park, he recommended deflating her saline implants to determine the exact volume of the implants, because she was not sure of her size. 400 cc of saline was removed. The surgical plan was to do an explant, total capsulectomy, and silicone granuloma excision in a first stage surgery. The second stage surgery was planned 3 months later to complete her revision breast augmentation using Ideal Saline Structured Breast Implants. Ideal 370 implants were used, filling the left to 415 cc and the right to 400 cc. Before and after photos show the results 5 months after Revision Breast Augmentation. This patient was very happy with her results.
